Khubz en una panadería de Bahrain.

Se denomina Khubz a un pan plano empleado en la cocina árabe y que forma parte de la gastronomía de los países del Golfo pérsico.

El Khubz es un pan alargado elaborado en un horno especial. La masa es trabajada y aplastada igual que una pizza y se pone pegado en las paredes interiores del horno que son de piedra. El impacto de adherir la pasta a la pared caliente del horno hace que se cocine y permanece así hasta que las burbujas de pan se empiezan a poner marrones. Se quitan y ya se consideran listos para ser vendidos.

El proceso completo lo llevan a cabo tres personas. El Khubz es mucho más grande que un pan libanés de Pita.

Existen numerosas panaderías de Khubz en las cercanías de Bahrain, siendo éstas muy tradicionales. El Khubz es barato y suele costar 20 fils (BD 0.020) una pieza (cerca de 6 cents).
