Un típico ploughman's lunch.

El ploughman's lunch (‘almuerzo del labrador’ en inglés) es una comida o aperitivo frío, consistente al menos de un trozo de queso (usualmente cheddar, stilton o cualquier otro queso local), encurtidos (pickles) o cebolletas a la vinagreta, un trozo de pan y mantequilla. Es un plato típico de menú de pubs (pub grub) y restaurante inglés.

Servir

Normalmente se acompaña de ensalada u otros acompañamientos como: media manzana, paté, rodajas de huevo cocido, jamón asado, atún, remolacha, etcétera.

Curiosidades

En la emisora de televisión británica BBC se comentó que la idea de este plato surgió cuando un trabajador que trabajaba en un café, se trajo un almuerzo empaquetado con pan queso y pickle, un cliente lo vio y pidió lo mismo para comer, lo cual dio una idea a la dirección del establecimiento para vender comidas similares.[cita requerida]
