Paul Tillich (Paulus Johannes Tillich) (n. 20 de agosto de 1886, en Starzeddel, Brandeburgo, Alemania- †22 de octubre de 1965, en Chicago). Fue un filósofo y teólogo protestante. Junto con Karl Barth es uno de los teólogos protestantes más influyentes del Siglo XX.

Vida

Nació en Alemania en 1886. Estudió en las universidades de Berlín, Tübingen, Halle y Breslau. Fue ordenado ministro de la iglesia luterana en 1912. Enseñó teología en Alemania hasta 1933 cuando los nazis le prohibieron seguir. Se fue a vivir a Estados Unidos donde enseñó en el seminario de Unión Teológica de Nueva York hasta 1955, cuando fue nombrado profesor en Harvard. En 1962 se fue de Harvard para enseñar en la universidad de Chicago hasta su muerte en 1965.
