Pasquale de Paoli (o Pascal Paoli, en francés) fue un patriota corso nacido en Morosaglia el 6 de abril de 1725 y fallecido en Londres el 5 de febrero de 1807.

Elegido General en Jefe de la Córcega independiente(1755-1769), luchó contra el dominio de Génova.Llamado "El Padre de la Patria" para los Corsos, fue también uno de los primeros dirigentes en Europa a establecer un régimen de inspiración democrática con una constitución. Por la paz de Versalles de 1768, la isla pasó a los franceses, quienes derrotaron a las tropas de Paoli en Pontenuovo, en 1769.

Exiliado en el Reino Unido, en 1790 regresa a Córcega y es nombrado gobernador de Bastia por la Convención. En 1793 se subleva y pide el apoyo británico para proclamar la independencia en 1794, pero el ejército francés dominó pronto la situación, y Paoli tuvo que exiliarse definitivamente en Londres desde 1795.
