Oto

En la mitología griega Oto (en griego antiguo Ὥτος, ‘búho orejudo’) es el nombre de dos personajes:

  • Un gigante hijo de Ifimedia y Aloeo o Poseidón y hermano gemelo de Efialtes. Los dos hermanos, llamados los Alóadas por el nombre del marido de Ifimedia, pretendían derrocar a Zeus y colocaron el monte Pelión sobre el Ossa para llegar hasta el cielo. También amenazaban con arrojar las montañas al mar y desecarlo, pero fueron vencidos por Apolo o se mataron entre ellos en una disputa por Artemisa. (Para más información, véase Alóadas).
  • Un comandante de los epeos de Élide que participó en la guerra de Troya en el bando aqueo. Fue muerto por Polidamas.
