Oniwabanshū

Oniwabanshū, palabra japonesa y uno de los terminos utilizados en el Japón feudal para describir a los ninja o shinobi.

El Oniwabanshū (お庭番衆Los Guardianes del Jardín) fue un grupo de ninjas onmitsu establecido por el shogun Tokugawa VIII, Yoshimune Tokugawa, que fue considerado uno de los shogun más importantes de Japón (1684-1751).

Los Oniwabanshū eran espías ninja utilizados para proteger el Castillo de Gobierno en Edo durante el Periodo Tokugawa. Estos espías no sólo protegían la seguridad del castillo sino que se infiltraban entre la población para mantener una red de espionaje e informar al shogun Tokugawa.

Ficción

Los Oniwabanshū han aparecido en numerosas obras de ficción en Japón, de novelas a películas, pasando por series de televisión. Esto también incluye mangas y animes (por citar un par de ejemplos, Rurouni Kenshin -Samurai X o El guerrero samurai- o Gintama)
