Gran Jefe Sir Michael Somare (9 de abril de 1936) es un político papuano. Antiguo líder del Partido Pangu, actualmente dirige la Partido Alianza Nacional. Fue el primer Jefe de Gobierno (Primer Ministro) de Papúa Nueva Guinea entre 1975 y 1980; ha reeditado su gobierno entre 1982 y 1985, entre 2002 y 2010 y, es Primer Ministro de su país desde enero de 2011 hasta abril del mismo año.
