An-shan es una ciudad de la provincia de Liaoning, al noreste de China, teniendo una población de 1.285.849 habitantes en 1999.

Fue fundada como un puesto de correos en el año de 1387 y fue fortificada en 1587 como parte de la defensa fijada por la dinastía Ming en contra del creciente poderío de los manchúes. Fue destruida por el fuego durante la Rebelión de los Bóxers y gravemente dañada en el transcurso de la Guerra Ruso-Japonesa.

En los años 1930, los japoneses ocuparon An-shan y la convirtieron en un centro acerero. La ciudad fue bombardeada por las aeronaves estadounidenses en 1944 y saqueada por los soviéticos después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Tiempo después los chinos la reconstruyeron para hacer de ella un centro industrial productor de cemento, acero y productos químicos.
