Biografía

Hija de Johann Michael Bach, era prima segunda de Johann Sebastian.

Si bien no se sabe mucho de su vida o su matrimonio, se conoce que ella y Johann Sebastian tuvieron un matrimonio feliz. Tuvo siete hijos, cuatro de los cuales murieron a temprana edad. Anna Magdalena Wilcke se convirtió en la segunda esposa de Johann año y medio después de su muerte y se hizo cargo de los hijos de María. María Barbara Bach fue la madre de:

Recientes interpretaciones establecen que la partita para violín solo nº 2, BWV 1004, escrita por su marido, Johann Sebastian Bach, es una tombeau en recuerdo de su muerte.
