Altan Khan

Altan Khan o Anda (1507 - 1582, Mongolia) fue un jan mongol que aterrorizó a la China en el siglo XVI.

Estableció un gobierno según la costumbre china en su país de origen y ultimó un tratado de paz con la dinastía Ming en 1571. Convirtió a los mongoles a la regenerada secta del budismo tibetano llamada Gelug.

En 1578, Anda confirió al guía de la secta el título de Dalái Lama. Con la ayuda militar de los mongoles, los Dalai Lamas aplastaron a la mejor cimentada de las sectas del Tíbet, la conocida como Karma Kagyu, para volverse los gobernantes espirituales de la región.
