Kutaisi (en georgiano: ქუთაისი, en ruso: Кутаиси) es la segunda ciudad más grande de Georgia, en la provincia Imereti de Georgia occidental, 221 kilómetros al oeste de Tiflis, con una población estimada de 185.965 habitantes.

Kutaisi fue la capital del antiguo reino Cólquida. En 975-1122 Kutaisi fue capital del unificado reino Georgiano, entre siglo XV - 1810 fue capital del reino Imeretian. En 1810 el reino Imeretian fue ocupado por el zar de Rusia.

Antes de la Independencia de Georgia en 1991, y del colapso económico del país, Kutaisi era la ciudad más industrializada. Hoy, muchos habitantes de la ciudad han tenido que abandonarla y trabajar fuera para poder subsistir. El comercio a pequeña escala está prevaleciendo entre el resto de la población. El clima es húmedo. El verano es caluroso. El invierno es frío y con frecuentes lluvias y nevadas. En primavera, cuando la nieve se derrite en las montañas cercanas, la corriente del río Rioni que fluye por medio de la ciudad aumenta. Llueve en todas las estaciones del año. Debido a ello, existen numerosos jardines en el centro de la ciudad así como alamedas arboladas. Esto le confiere un carácter verde en primavera y rojo-amarillento en otoño.
