Alfred Eisenstaedt

Alfred Eisenstaedt, fotógrafo y fotoperiodista, nació en Dirschau, el Oeste de Prusia (actualmente Tczew, Polonia) el 6 de diciembre de 1898; y falleció el 24 de agosto de 1995 en Jackson Heights, Queens, Nueva York.

Alfred Einsenstaedt emigró a Estados Unidos en 1935, donde viviría el resto de su vida, pero empezó en el mundo de la fotografía en su Prusia natal. En 1927 consiguió vender su primera fotografía a una publicacción y, a raíz de ello, decidió que quería vivir profesionalmente de la fotografía, convirtiéndose en fotógrafo freelance en Berlín. Cuando llegó a América se convierte en ciudadano norteamericano y entra a trabajar en el staff de la revista Life desde 1936 hasta 1972. Destacan sus fotografías de celebridades, desde Sophia Loren a Bill Clinton, pasando por Mussolini, Hitler, John Fitzgerald Kennedy o Hemingway, muchas de las cuales fueron portadas de la revista Life.

Eisenstaedt trabajaba con una 35mm Leica M3, siendo su fotografía más famosa la del V-J Day, en Times Square, también conocida como The Kiss o El Beso
