Jacob Frank, o Jakob Franck (1726-1791), fue un prétendiente judío a la mesianidad en la linea antinomista[1] [2] de Shabtai Tzvi (un rabino que se declaró a sí mismo el Mesias Judío en 1648). Jacob Frank defiendia la transgresión y lo orgiástico. Cuando sus orgías sexuales[3] causaron estupor en Polonia tuvo que huir y refugiarse en Turquía, donde a imitación de Shabtai, se convierte al Islam, esto le permite moverse con facilidad, entrar y salir de Polonia y organizar una red sabatiana clandestina que pronto se extiende a la totalidad de Polonia, Ucrania, Galitzia y Hungría.[4] Sus discipulos se separaron del judaísmo, y crearon un movimiento relacionado con el cristianismo, el frankismo, que combinaba algunos aspectos del cristianismo con el judaísmo ya que aceptaba el Nuevo Testamento.
