Hedwig and the Angry Inch es un musical de 1998, que fue convertido en película en el año 2001. Trata sobre la búsqueda del amor por parte de Hedwig, la cantante transexual de una banda de Glam rock. John Cameron Mitchell escribió el guion de la obra y fue también el director y actor principal de la película. La música y las letras de las canciones las hizo Stephen Trask.
El título hace referencia a la desastrosa operación de reasignación de sexo a la que fue sometida Hedwig, que la deja no con una estructura genital nítidamente femenina o masculina, sino con una "pulgada" disfuncional de carne entre las piernas.
