The Firm, conocida en castellano como Fachada (Venezuela) y como La tapadera en España, es una película de 1993 dirigida por Sydney Pollack y protagonizada por Tom Cruise, Gene Hackman, Jeanne Tripplehorn y Holly Hunter. Está basada en la novela homónima de 1991 del escritor John Grisham.

Argumento

Mitch McDeere (Tom Cruise) ha realizado sus estudios de abogado con brillantez y es contratado por un despacho de abogados. Él y su esposa (Jeanne Tripplehorn) se trasladan a la ciudad, donde el despacho les facilita una vivienda, un automóvil y todo lo necesario. A medida que pasa el tiempo, McDeere se da cuenta que en ese despacho se realizan operaciones ilegales. Cuando se muestra en desacuerdo con este proceder pierde la confianza de sus superiores, que tratarán de hacerle callar por todos los medios.
