Aftermath Entertainment fue fundado por Dr. Dre en 1996. Originalmente Dre fue vicepresidente de Death Row Records con Suge Knight, pero dejó el sello en 1996. Aftermath distribuye su material mediante Interscope Records, una división de Universal Music Group, la primera compañía de música líder en el mundo.

Aftermath ha basado su gran éxito en tres superestrellas como son Eminem, 50 cent, y Dr. Dre, pero Dr. Dre descubrió, produjo música y promovió a súper-estrellas del hip hop mundial como Snoop Dogg, N.W.A., D.O.C. entre muchos otros MC's, mucho antes que existiera Aftermath Entertainment.
