Edith Nesbit (15 de agosto de 1858 - 4 de mayo de 1924) fue una escritora y poetisa inglesa. Conocida mayormente por sus libros para niños llenos de buen humor y de estilo innovativo que combina los aventuras de los protagonistas en una realidad ordinaria con elementos mágicos.

Los novelas de Edith Nesbit fueron a menudo una fuente de inspiración para otros escritores infantiles como por ejemplo P. L. Travers, Edward Eager, C.S. Lewis, Diana Wynne Jones inclusive la autora de serie de Harry Potter J. K. Rowling.
