Steve Van ZandtLa E Street Band es un grupo de rock, procedente de Estados Unidos. Conocido entre el público como la banda de Bruce Springsteen.
Este grupo musical ha seguido a Springsteen en gran parte de su discografía, aunque desde finales de 1988 hasta 1999, la Banda y Bruce Springsteen trabajaron por separado; excepto para la grabación del álbum Greatest Hits de 1995.
Además de tocar con Bruce Springsteen, la E Street Band ha colaborado con otros grandes cantantes, ya sea con la formación al completo o con algunos de sus miembros. Varíos de estos grandes han sido: Bob Dylan, Tom Morello, Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, Dire Straits, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Ian Hunter, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Spector, Gary U.S. Bonds, Darlene Love, Southside Johnny, Santana, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Tracy Chapman y Aretha Franklin.

Steven van Zandt, Little Steven (2002).La primera formación de la banda data de octubre de 1972 y estaba compuesta por: Clarence Clemons (saxofón), Danny Federici (teclados, acordeón), Vini "Mad Dog" Lopez (batería), David Sancious (teclados) y Garry Tallent (bajo); pero no fue hasta septiembre de 1974 cuando se constituyó de forma oficial.
En sus orígenes la banda ensayaba en la casa de la madre de David Sancious. Según la leyenda, el nombre de la E Street Band proviene de la calle donde estaba situada esa casa (street es calle en inglés).
