La VIII entrega de los Brit Awards se celebró en el Royal Albert Hall y fue la primera vez en que se retrasmitió en horario de máxima adudiencia. El momento central de la entrega vino de la mano de Pet Shop Boys y Dusty Springfield que actuaron a duo.
