Lifeboat, conocido en castellano como 8 a la deriva (Argentina) y Náufragos (España) es la película número 32 dirigida por Alfred Hitchcock.

Fue rodada en Estados Unidos en 1944 y producida por los estudios Twenty Century Fox. El rodaje se llevó a cabo íntegramente en los estudios, añadiéndoles las correspondientes transparencias de mar y cielo.

La película fue incomprendida en su estreno y tras él Hitchcock se dedicó a contribuir al esfuerzo de guerra, dirigiendo dos películas propagandísticas.

Argumento

Un barco norteamericano es torpedeado por un submarino alemán. Los supervivientes logran refugiarse en un pequeño bote salvavidas: los supervivientes son una periodista de moda, Constance Porter (Tallulah Bankhead), un ingeniero (John Hodiak), un industrial adinerado (Henry Hill), una enfermera (Mary Anderson), un marino herido (William Bendix), un camarero negro (Canada Lee) y una mujer inglesa (Heather Angel) que lleva en brazos el cadáver de su hijo. La situación se hace más compleja con la llegada al bote de un capitán alemán.
