Bill Ward (nombre real: William Thomas Ward) (nacido el 5 de mayo de 1948 en Aston, Birmingham, Inglaterra) es el baterista de la prestigiosa banda de Heavy Metal "Black Sabbath".

Adicionalmente a contribuir con la batería como miembro original de la agrupación, Ward cantó en tres canciones de Black Sabbath: Solitude (del disco Master of Reality), It's Alright (el disco Technical Ecstasy) y Swinging the Chain (del disco Never Say Die!).

Biografía

Antes de pertenecer a Black Sabbath, Ward y su amigo Tony Iommi tocaban en una banda llamada "Mithology", y se unieron al cantante Ozzy Osbourne y al bajista Geezer Butler, quienes hacían parte de una agrupación llamada "Rare Breed". Entre 1969 y 1980 Ward estuvo presente en la formación de Black Sabbath. Deja la banda por motivos personales en agosto de 1980 durante la presentación del disco Heaven and Hell. Sin embargo retorna para el disco Born Again, en el cual el vocalista era Ian Gillan, de Deep Purple. Ward abandona nuevamente a Black Sabbath debido a problemas de salud.

Más tarde Bill se uniría a la banda en dos breves presentaciones, antes de la tan esperada reunión de los miembros originales, en 1997, con la edición del disco en vivo llamado Reunión, y la grabación de dos nuevos tracks: Psycho Man y Selling My Soul. Pero los problemas de salud en esa época nunca lo abandonaron, tuviendo que ser reemplazado en algunas ocasiones por Mike Bordin y Vinny Appice. Sin embargo, Black Sabbath pudo volver a contar con un Bill Ward recuperado desde 1999 hasta la fecha.
