La canción habla acerca de tener una doble vida. Dice, "Who would'a thought that a girl like me would double as a superstar". En la serie, Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) tiene un secreto. Ella es la famosa estrella del pop, Hannah Montana. Miley quiere ser tratada como una adolescente normal, que es la razón por la que ella tiene el secreto. La canción habla de Orlando Bloom en el segundo verso, mientras que en la gira se refería a Hannah Montana.

En la historia de Hannah Montana, "The Best of Both Worlds" fue escrita por el padre de Miley, Robbie Ray, con el fin de equilibrar la mala publicidad de Miley, en la cual dicen que necesita apoyo.
