Ben Pollack

Baterista y músico norteamericano, que nació el 22 de junio de 1903 en Chicago, Illinois, y murió el 7 de junio de 1971. Debido a su habilidad con los instrumentos musicales se ganó el nombre de "El padre del swing".

Fue un gran autodidacta y hacia 1920, su gran sed de aprendizaje y superación le hizo ganarse un puesto en la New Orleans Rhythm Kings, conocida como NORK, una orquesta de jazz de primera línea.

Hacia 1924, tocó en numerosas orquestas, incluyendo algunas de la costa oeste, donde finalmente formó una banda en 1925. Uno de los primeros miembros de su banda fue Gil Rodin, un saxofonista cuya fuerte visión para los negocios le sirvió más tarde para convertirse en un ejecutivo de la Music Corporation of America (MCA)
