Barry Foster Newman nació el 7 de noviembre de 1938, es un actor estadounidense quisá mejor conocido por personificar a “Kowalski” en la película clásica de culto Vanishing Point en la que representa a un naciente héroe proscrito que maneja un Dodge Challenger blanco de 1970. También es conocido por su serie de televisión Petrocelli en la que caracteriza a Anthony Petrocelli, un abogado en un drama criminalístico, por el cual fue nominado a los premios Golden Globe y Emmy.

Newman nació en Boston, Massachusetts. Estudió en Boston Latin School y Brandeis University, donde se graduó en antropología cultural. Durante los setentas y ochentas protagonizó numerosas peliculas de aventuras como Vanishing Point (1971), Fear Is the Key (1972), City on Fire (1979). More recently he has appeared in Amy (1981), Daylight (1996), Bowfinger (1999), The Limey (1999), y 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), What the Bleep Do We Know!? (2004), Grilled (2006).
