Subpoena

Subpoena, es un término jurídico usado en el Derecho anglosajón para referirse a una orden, citación o requerimiento de comparecencia ante un órgano gubernamental, por lo general los tribunales de justicia, para la producción de un testimonio oral (subpoena ad testificandum) u otros medios de prueba (subpoena duces tecum) para un juicio.

En los Estados Unidos, los juzgados y también las comisiones de investigación del Congreso tienen la facultad de ordenar una subpoena.

En Inglaterra y Gales, la subpoena recibe el nombre de witness summons ("citación-testigo").
