Śruti

En el marco del hinduismo, se llama shruti a uno de los dos tipos de textos sagrados (siendo el otro tipo los smriti).

Lista de textos shruti

Los textos shruti (‘lo que se oye’, lo que escucharon los sabios rishis directamente de Dios). Los hindúes creen que los śruti no son creaciones del hombre, no son obras de origen intelectual, sino revelaciones directas de Dios a los hombres. Los rishis (sabios o videntes) fueron los intermediarios que captaron esas revelaciones divinas. Estos textos son universales y eternos. No pueden ser interpretados, sino seguidos al pie de la letra.

  • Los cuatro Vedás:
    • Rig vedá, el más antiguo, escrito en una de las formas más arcaicas del sánscrito, probablemente antes del 700 a. C.
    • Iáyur vedá, el libro de los sacrificios.
    • Sama vedá, que contiene himnos.
    • Átharva vedá, el libro de los rituales.
