Lisa Gasteen

Lisa Kinkead Gasteen[1] (*1957, Brisbane, Australia[2] ), es una soprano, australiana especializada en repertorio alemán y de Richard Wagner. En 1991 ganó el BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition.

Debutó en 1985 en Queensland como Aida seguida por Desdemona (Otello). En Australia ha cantado Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw), Madame Lidoine (Dialogues de Carmélites), Ortlinde (Die Walküre), Leonora (Il trovatore, La forza del destino, Fidelio), Elsa (Lohengrin ), Donna Elvira y Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Aida, Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser ) y Amelia (Un ballo in maschera).

En 1991 cantó Donna Anna invitada por Charles Mackerras en Praga debutando en 1992 en Scottish Opera en Il trovatore sucediendose debuts en Welsh National Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Stuttgart, Zurich, Dallas y Washington.

En 1997 debutó en el Metropolitan Opera, como Aida, Amelia (Un ballo in maschera), Madeleine de Coigny (Andrea Chénier), Tosca, Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Sieglinde y Chrysothemis (Elektra ).

En las ultimas temporadas cantó Brünnhilde (Siegfried) en Stuttgart, Isolde (Tristan und Isolde) y en el Der Ring des Nibelungen en Covent Garden y Wiener Staatsoper. así como una serie de Elektras, Salome y La mujer sin sombra.

En concierto ha cantado obras de Gioachino Rossini, Mendelssohn, Leoš Janáček, Ludwig van Beethoven y Verdi.

Desde 2008 ha cancelado sus compromisos debido a una afección neuromuscular[3] sin fecha prevista para un retorno a los escenarios.
