Jonathan Hornblower

Jonathan Hornblower (Chacewater, 5 de julio de 1753 - Penryn, 23 de febrero de 1815)[1] fue un británico pionero de la energía de vapor.

Hijo de Jonathan Hornblower y hermano de Jabes Carter Hornblower, dos pioneros compañeros, desarrolló una máquina compuesta en 1781, pero fue impedido de ejercer su invención por el litigio con James Watt (Boulton y Watt) sobre propiedad intelectual. Su motor de vapor compuesto no fue restablecido hasta 1804 por Arthur Woolf. A raíz de la expiración de la patente y Watt Boulton, el compuesto Hornblower principio máquina de vapor contribuyó significativamente al incremento de vapor de la eficiencia del motor. Él inventó el golpe de la válvula de vapor-doble en torno a 1800. En otros desarrollos en la tecnología de vapor, sin embargo, tuvo más éxito y murió un hombre rico en Penryn en 1815.
