8bitpeoples

8bitpeoples es un sello discográfico y artístico ubicado en New York que se enfoca en la estética del 8-bit, el cual es fuertemente influenciado por los videojuegos antiguos. 8bitpeoples fue fundado en 1999 por Jeremiah Johnson (AKA Nullsleep) y Mike Hanlon (AKA Tangible). Actualmente es administrado por Johnson y su compañero Joshua Davis (AKA Bit Shifter). La gran particularidad del colectivo es que su música y arte tienen licencia Creative Commons, por lo que casi la totalidad de su discografía es gratuita.

Muchos artistas que han aparecido en 8bitpeoples también han aparecido en recopilaciones de otros sellos discográficos o artísticos, la más notable 8 Bit Operators de Astralwerks, una colección de temas de Kraftwerk hechos con estilo 8-bit. 8bitpeoples está también involucrado en la organización del Blip Festival, el cual presentan músicos de 8-bit, a menudo incluyendo ésos en la lista de 8bitpeoples.
