William Primrose, CBE (Glasgow, Escocia, 23 de agosto de 1904 - Provo, Utah, 1 de mayo de 1982) es considerado por muchos el mejor violista de todos los tiempos. Fue alumno del legendario Eugène Ysaÿe antes de emprender una carrera de las más brillantes como solista. Ha hecho numerosas grabaciones, y ha colaborado con Jascha Heifetz y Gregor Piatigorsky como músico de cámara. Durante sus últimos años fue profesor en el Curtis Institute of Music en Filadelfia.
