White Heat (en español Calor Blanco) es una canción de la cantante pop estadounidense Madonna escrita y producida por ella y Patrick Leonard para su tercer álbum de estudio True Blue (1986).

Información general

"White Heat" comienza con un fragmento de diálogo de la película de 1949 protagonizada por James Cagney y Virginia Mayo, llamada precisamente "White Heat". Este diálogo pertenece al momento en que James se da cuenta de que su compañero de celda, protagonizado por Edmund O'Brien es un agente del gobierno. El papel interpretado por James es un homosexual "reprimido" con visiones al Complejo de Edipo y resultó algo muy destacado en la época, y muchos, consideran esta película como una de las más importantes de todos los tiempos centradas en el tema gangster.

Madonna escribió "White Heat" junto a Patrick Leonard inspirándose en el personaje de James Cagney y como una dedicatoria hacia este prestigioso actor, para su tercer álbum de estudio True Blue. La canción presenta ritmos y sonidos instrumentales que superficialmente nos pueden recordar a "Open Your Heart", canción de la cual precisamente llegó a ser lado B en su publicación como sencillo.

Madonna presentó en vivo "White Heat" por única vez en su gira Who's That Girl Tour en 1987, con una simple recreación de la película homónima en la que Madonna aparece imitando el papel de James Cagney. Al final de la actuación aparece en las pantallas la frase "Safe Sex" (Sexo Seguro).
