Waiting For Waits fue un ciclo musical creado en Mallorca (Baleares), en julio del 2001. Su nombre (Esperando a Waits) respondía al deseo del promotor de cerrarlo con una actuación de Tom Waits en la isla.

Los artistas participantes, la mayoría de ellos vinculados al género Americana, aceptaban como condición filosófica finalizar sus actuaciones interpretando una versión de un tema del artista californiano.

Entre los invitados a esperar a Waits han figurado nombres de la talla de: Howe Gelb, Dayna Kurtz, Richard Hawley, Lisa Germano, Kelly Joe Phelps, Stuart A Staples (Tindersticks), Josh Rouse, Steve Wynn, Andrew Bird, Martha Wainwright, Peter Case, Willard Grant Conspiracy ó Bonnie "Prince" Billy (éste último fue el único que no quiso interpretar un tema de Waits)

En julio del 2008, Tom Waits ofreció sus tres primeras actuaciones en España (una en Donostia y dos en Barcelona). Mallorca no fue tomada en consideración, y la dirección de WFW llegó a plantearse un cambio de nombre para el festival: "Orphans of Waits" (en "honor" al triple álbum del esquivo artista). Tras un referéndum entre el público mallorquín, el nombre se mantuvo.

Durante el 2009 (novena edición) pasaron por distintos escenarios de la isla Chuck Prophet, Omar Torrez (guitarrista de la última gira europea de Waits), Jolie Holland,Hot Club Of Cowtown y Geraint Watkins.

La décima Y ÚLTIMA edición se estrenó con Bill Callahan y Dayna Kurtz y tuvo como cabeza de cartel a Richard Thompson.
