La United Service Organizations (USO) es una organización sin ánimo de lucro que provee servicios recreacionales y morales a los miembros de las Fuerzas Armadas de los Estados Unidos a lo largo del mundo.
Segunda Guerra Mundial
Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el USO se convirtió en: "el hogar lejos del hogar" de los G.I.s y comenzó una tradición de entretenimiento para las tropas que continúa hasta la fecha. Involucrarse con la USO era una de las muchas maneras en las que la Nación Norte Americana se había unido para apoyar al esfuerzo bélico, con casi 1.5 millones de Americános como voluntarios dando sus servicios de alguna manera. Despues de que fue desbandada en 1947, fue revivida en 1950 para la Guerra de Corea, y luego de la misma continuó ofreciendo sus servicios en tiempos de paz. Durante la Guerra de Vietnam, los USO eran en ocasiones asignados a zonas de combate. Despues de ser formada en 1941 en respuesta a la Seguda Guerra Mundial, "centros fueron establecidos rápidamente... en iglesias, graneros, carros de ferrocarril, museos, castilletes, clubes de playa y cabañas."[1]
