Sir Michael Terence Wogan nació el 3 de agosto de 1938 en Irlanda. Es uno de los más afamados presentadores y locutores de radio y televisión del Reino Unido, convirtiéndose en uno de los símbolos de la BBC. Comenzó su carrera profesional en la década de 1960.

Entre 1980 y 2008 comentaba todos los años el Festival de Eurovisión, del cual fue presentador en Birmingham en 1998 junto a Ulrika Jonsson.

En el año 2005 fue nombrado Caballero de la Orden del Imperio Británico por la Reina Isabel II.
