El southern rap es un estilo de música rap que surgió a finales de la década de los 80 y es muy popular en las ciudades de Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Miami y Memphis.

Algunos de los artistas más notables del género son: Lil Jon, Ludacris, David Banner, Three 6 Mafia, Ying Yang Twins, Lil Wayne, YoungBloodZ, Mike Jones, Chamillionaire, Bubba Sparxxx, Dem Franchize Boyz, Lil Scrappy, Missy Elliott, OutKast, T.I., Paul Wall, Young Jeezy, Trick Daddy, jibbs, Juvenile, Birdman, etc.
