Robert Fisher nació en Long Beach, California. Con 19 años comenzó a escribir guiones para cómicos de la talla de Groucho Marx, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, George Burns o Alan King. Ha sido el autor y coautor de más de 400 programas radiofónicos de comedia y cerca de 1200 programas televisivos. Obtuvo el premio Emmy por la serie "Danny Thomas", además de los premios Sylvania y St. Christopher en el género "Mejor comedia del año". Sus obras de teatro y musicales también han cosechado excelentes críticas y numerosos galardones.

Su primer libro, El caballero de la armadura oxidada, en la línea de los libros de motivación y autoayuda, ha vendido millones de ejemplares por todo el mundo y se ha visto acompañado de otros éxitos como El caballero silencioso y otros relatos, El búho que no podía ulular y El gato que encontró a Dios (escritos en colaboración con su esposa Beth Kelly). Falleció el 26 de septiembre de 2008. Robert Fisher es conocido en norte america por haber dedicado su vida a escribir guiones para los comicos mas famosos del pais. Comenzó su carrera como guionista de radio para Groucho Marx y luego ha escrito para comediantes como Bob Hope, Red Skelton, George Burns, entre otros.
